Marie-Chantal's Morning Routine:

Curious to know what Marie-Chantal’s morning routine is?

My morning routine is a simple one and I’ve kept it the same forever. My morning skincare routine begins with a polish, wash and moisturizer; and in the evenings I alternate between a vitamin C and a glycolic serum. When my skin really needs it, I apply a face mask or will go for a cleansing facial. Every few months I rotate my products out for new ones I discover, but always return back to my absolute favorites. It’s important to mix things up every once in a while, as the body has a funny way of getting used to routines. I’ll do the same for my hair, especially in the winter months and also with exercise… believe it or not, for my diet as well.

I am a big fan of Soul Cycle and like to make time for at least two classes a week. I also started doing pilates a few years back and will alternate between a couple of sessions one week and Soul Cycle for the other. Every now and again, I like to throw in barre work, as I find it great for toning the legs and core. If my schedule allows, I love to walk through Central Park whenever I can and sometimes, but rarely I’ll go for a run.

Marie-Chantal's Morning Routine:

I normally wake up around 6:00 am, as I’ve always been an early bird and love to wake up with the sun. I really enjoy having breakfast with my kids before they head off to school. I’ve gotten in the routine of having a hot cup of water with lemon juice and a mixture of the juices below (continue reading for recipes). It depends on how I feel, but I often go more towards a vegetable juice. I’m not a fan of fruit-based juices, as I find that they are very high in sugar, but sometimes I’ll add one apple. My daughter Olympia, recently introduced me to raw celery juice every day. Which took some getting used to, but now I look forward to it. I just love my coffee, but with no dairy. Instead I prefer either Oat milk (my new favorite) or Almond milk.

Marie-Chantal's Morning Routine:

My star sign is Virgo, so if you know about star signs, Virgo’s tend to love all things health, food and organization related. The diet I am most comfortable with is the Paleo Diet and sometimes the Keto Diet. The Paleo Diet is a high protein, vegetable and low healthy carbohydrate diet. It focuses on protein and vegetables, healthy little starches and a few fruits but not too many. The Keto Diet is a high protein, healthy fat diet with some added vegetables. The theory behind the Keto diet is that it changes the way the body converts food into energy. Eating high amounts of proteins and fats puts you into Ketosis, where your body breaks down fat and converts it into energy and fuel. It reduces inflammation and really does create weight loss. Once at a stable weight more vegetables and fruit are added in.

Marie-Chantal's Morning Routine:

Another new obsession of mine is bone broth (and again, it’s my daughter Olympia who got me onto this new craze.) It’s meant to be a great health benefit, as its full of natural collagen which is fantastic for your skin. I alternate between chicken and beef bone broth to keep things interesting. I’ve added the recipe I do at home below…. it’s delicious.

I really believe that you have to find what works for you and try to make it fun and healthy. Listen to your body as it will tell you how it feels and what you need. From your skin to your hair and body, find a routine that works for you. I was able to figure out quite early that sugars and too many carbs make me feel puffy, sluggish and not great. However, that doesn’t mean that I won’t help myself to a yummy bowl of pasta or pizza every now and again.
